Knowing where to turn when your child is struggling can be difficult.
Emmaus Road Counseling is here to serve the students of Calvary Christian School.
Adolescent mental health issues are on the rise, especially with our current external influences.
With external influences such as the Covid pandemic, increase in technology use, and exposure to global violence, including shootings in our nation's schools; our children have experienced traumatic events, changes in their routine, lack of consistency, fear, physical and social isolation, closure of schools, increased screen time, increased risk of child abuse, and parental stress which all correlate with mental distress such as Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD; which has affected them mentally, socially, and academically.
Meet our counselors for Calvary Christian School.

The heart of my work is inspired from Scripture, in Matthew 11:28, where Jesus the Messiah says: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
We all go through hard times – in the past, in the present, or in the future – where we feel weary, burdened, anxious, or heavy-hearted. My desire is to be a warm, safe person in which you feel the ability to bring out your truest self in the therapy room without receiving judgment or criticism. The focus of my therapy is to provide an environment where we can gently process the things in your life that make you feel stuck or hinder you from being authentic, whole, and connected to others and the world around you.
We cannot change unless we are met with safety and unconditional regard, and I hope to be that person for you. It would be an honor and a privilege to walk with you through your past and current high’s and low’s and everything in between.
Having just about over a decade of experience in ministry and ministry leadership, I am happy to work with individuals, couples, and families of all backgrounds, and I especially enjoy working with those who experience difficulties in the areas of relationship conflicts, mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder), ethnic identity, faith & spirituality, and ministry & ministry leadership. Just as I have been incredibly blessed by the gifted therapists in my life, my hope is that I help meet you and encourage you on your on-going journey toward healing and wholeness, just as Christ modeled so well.

In my community growing up, therapy was not something that was talked about. I find that there are still biases and stigmas that exist against receiving help in mental health. I have discovered the importance of mental health and the value of therapy through my undergraduate years and through my experiences in ministry. As I continued to explore my curiosity in the field, it led me to pursue a masters in Biola University's Marriage and Family Therapy program. Throughout the program I have only become more confident in the benefits of therapy in both our spiritual and personal lives.
As a therapist, my number one hope is to provide a safe space for individuals of all backgrounds to explore themselves. I believe that every individual has their own unique experiences and hurts that have shaped who they are now. My desire is to be a part of the healing process in their holistic journey in their mental health, relationships, and spirituality.

I am currently studying Clinical Psychology at Azusa Pacific University, and am passionate about walking with people throughout life's challenges. Throughout my many years of experience in church ministry, my eyes have been opened to the diverse mental, spiritual, and relational needs of the church and surrounding communities. Due to this, I am passionate about sitting with people through both the pain and successes that comes with life. In order to facilitate helpful and desired changes within therapy, I rely on the Holy Spirit's presence to guide me in my work.
Specifically, I feel called to work with those who have experienced traumas of all kinds. Trauma can lead to us feeling as though we are broken versions of ourselves, and I believe the Lord desires for everyone to walk in the wholeness of who they uniquely are. I look forward to walking with you towards wholeness!

Life is quite the journey! Whether or not you know where you want to be, whether or not you’re sure how to get there— my intention is to come alongside and walk with you in the process.
I operate from the standpoint that healing comes in the form of relationships. Our very beings crave intimacy with others. It is here that the deepest wounds can be found, as well as the greatest healing. The relationship between client and therapist can be profoundly restorative, and when working with children, it is also of the utmost importance to work with the parent-child relationship. I am grateful to be at an organization where the way I conduct therapy can also encompass processing a client’s relationship with God and what their faith journey looks like.
I received my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Vanguard University, and while I enjoy working with all ages, I specialize in working with kids and teens. I like taking a collaborative approach with my clients and tailor my therapeutic interventions to each individual. I offer therapy both through telehealth and in person.

I believe that each person has a unique, sacred, and oftentimes messy story that is woven together by experiences. At times, these experiences can contribute to feelings of disconnection in relationships, an increase in anxiety and depression, or other challenges in life.
I am trained in emotionally focused therapy and uses a down-to-earth and practical approach to therapy with a heart for working with individuals, families, and couples focusing on issues of trauma, grief, stress, identity, life transitions, additional support in relationships, and more.

What keeps kids from getting the help they need?
Values Alignment
The fear of bringing on a therapist who does not align with the values and mission of a Christian family and a private Christian school can prevent parents from seeking out counseling for their kids.
Cost of Services
The high cost of private Christian school tuition can make affording mental health services for children a challenge for some families.
Stigma
The stigma surrounding mental health and therapy prevents some families from pursuing counseling as an option for their children.
How does Emmaus Road meet these challenges?
At Emmaus Road, we understand the unique challenges that Christian families and private Christian schools face. We are here to help you navigate these challenges and provide resources to support your family.
Emmaus Road is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) Christian Counseling agency that partners with Christian schools, churches, and universities to make quality counseling accessible and affordable. Our goal is to partner with your family by bridging the gap and offering counseling services on campus.
Our therapists take a collaborative approach, partnering together to make sure parents feel heard, understood, and agree with goals and interventions for their child.

Our therapists pursue training in various evidence-based treatment modalities, and your child’s sessions may include talk therapy and other methods such as art, games, music, and other tools.
Interventions may include:
Increasing mindfulness of current emotions
Identify ways to manage and change emotions
Increasing positive emotional events
Applying distress tolerance techniques
Increase effective coping strategies
Identify and challenge any negative beliefs they may have

Our research shows that children improve dramatically when parents participate in counseling. We welcome your input and collaboration as we develop a treatment plan specifically for your child. We would love to have you as involved as you’d like to be.
-
As part of the counseling process, we will administer certain assessment tools to help us understand what might be going on in your child’s life and measure their progress. It is also very important that you and your child feel the sessions are beneficial, so we frequently administer a session outcome rating scale to ensure sessions are meeting your needs.
