Ashley Tolbert

MFT Trainee

I am originally a business student from the east coast, Upstate New York. I’m currently a student at William Jessup University working towards my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and a Veteran which is the reason I am here on the west coast now.

I’ve joined Emmaus as a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee. I hope to work with individuals who are experiencing life transitions, spiritual struggles, low self-esteem, depression, and relationship issues. My area of clinical interests are childhood trauma, empowerment, confidence, and spirituality.

I grew up in an area where I was the minority and experienced a lot of pain, alienation, and discrimination. These experiences have made me strong and enabled me to create spaces that are accepting of individualism and being seen as “different”. I love to spread positive vibes and as the late Maya Angelou said, “being a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.”

I’m a strong believer that God has done amazing things in my life and I’ve always seen his grace and love within my life during my highs and lows.

Some random fun facts about myself are, I love arts and crafts, baking, watching Bluey, staying active, spending time with family, traveling, being cozy at home on rainy days, napping, coffee, shopping and pizza!
