My name is Vanessa Amaro and I am currently working towards my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Azusa Pacific University. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Religion with an emphasis in Pastoral Care at Vanguard University. I have over 5 years of counseling and pastoral experience. Within my involvement in ministry, God showed me my passion and gifting for counseling. While I worked as a resident assistant at my university, I was inspired to attain my MFT license so that I could become more equipped and trained in my gifting. I am interested in working with children, adolescents, and adults. I also hope to someday specialize in working with clients who deal with eating disorders and/or trauma.
I have overcome my own personal trauma. Therapy has made a great impact in my own life and I highly value the relationships I have had with my own therapists that have helped me become the person I am today. My approach to therapy thus far is a holistic approach. I believe that we cannot separate psychology and spirituality in order to attain genuine growth and healing. I believe in a Holy Spirit guided approach. My approach is to see each client as a precious human being made in the image of God. I seek to see them through the eyes of God and not merely through my own perspective. Each individual has a story and deserves to be heard. I believe that each individual who seeks help has the power within themselves to walk through their own unique journey of healing. I am simply honored to help guide and walk them through that journey.
